The death of a prisoner in Cloverhill Prison occurred a day before he was due to be transferred to a psychiatric unit, according to the Office of the Inspector of Prisons.

A report into the death of the inmate has been submitted by the office to justice minister Jim O’Callaghan. The prisoner, identified only as Mr O, died on August 10, 2022, at the age of 52, while on remand for minor offences.
