AIB has appointed Graham Fagan as chief operating officer and Miriam Nagle as group general counsel, supporting its retail banking, capital markets and climate capital services.

The bank said that it is simplifying its management structure to focus on its three business lines, namely retail banking, capital markets and climate capital. The UK business will now be part of Retail Banking.

This integration will enhance the bank's all-Ireland retail business offering across the island of Ireland and continue collaboration with capital markets and climate capital to align its wholesale business lines, improving operational efficiencies and customer experience.

Graham Fagan, currently chief technology officer (CTO), has expanded his role to chief operating officer (COO). He will lead the new enterprise delivery function, combining the technology and data and operations and business services teams into a single, strategic delivery unit.

A member of the executive leadership team since 2023, Graham has led the transformation of the bank’s technology, data, and digital channels, and played a central role in the successful integration of AI across the organisation.

Miriam Nagle became group general counsel in January 2025. She now joins the executive leadership team. She will continue to provide legal counsel to the group and lead the legal function.

She began her legal career in private practice as a litigation specialist, advising on complex disputes across a range of sectors. She joined AIB in 2013 and has since held a variety of senior legal roles, contributing to strategic initiatives and governance across the organisation.

Colin Hunt, AIB's group CEO, said: “I’m very pleased to announce Graham’s expanded role. He has shown innovation and an ability to deliver in his role as Chief Technology Officer and will continue to do so in Enterprise Delivery. Miriam’s appointment to our Executive Leadership Team recognises both her contribution and counsel since becoming group general counsel, and the broadening of her accountabilities announced today reflect her impact on the group. Both of these appointments are evidence of the ability that has been fostered and developed within the Group. We look forward to their continued contributions."
