Adrigole got their campaign in Group 1 of the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork IAFC off to the perfect start with a 2-15 to 0-6 win over Glanworth in Coachford on Saturday. Last year the Beara men fell at the penultimate hurdle by a single point to Boherbue, but this result will only have them looking forward.
They played with the wind in the opening half, and despite amassing a worrying number of wides led by 0-9 to 0-3 at the break. Ben O’Sullivan clipped 0-3 in that opening period, Tom O’Connor and Denis Collins kicked 0-2 while Cian O’Shea landed a two-pointer. Two points from Jesse Walsh and 0-1 from Mikie Sheehan kept Glanworth in touch but they were undone after the break when Ben O’Sullivan struck for two goals in three minutes. O’Connor brought his total to 0-5 for Adrigole while Tiernan Sullivan and Cathal O’Sullivan also found their range. David Pyne kicked a two-pointer for Glanworth, who now have a month to reset.
