IF Andy Farrell needed an early dose of reality on the vagaries surrounding a Lions tour then the opening game against Argentina in Dublin could not have been more transparent for his players, management and support team, a party numbering a staggering 91 people.
To think I was quizzed from within for bringing a management group of 12 for the 2001 tour to Australia. Suffice to say, in only the second tour to the home of the Wallabies since that riveting series 24 years ago, the demands of the professional game have ratcheted up appreciably.
