Watch: A snapshot of life on Dursey Island
Dursey Island, located on the tip of the Beara Peninsula in west Cork, is known for it's rugged beauty and character and has one of Ireland's most remote island communities. Locals, Denis Healy and James (Jimmy) Harrington, reflect on life before the cable car was installed in 1969, a time of isolation, self-sufficiency, and boiling the Guinness. Today, just five permanent residents remain, carrying the memory of a way of life that’s fast disappearing.
