Good Samaritan stabbed in throat

Two good Samaritans who came to the assistance of a man having an epileptic fit rowed afterwards about how they had cared for the victim and it escalated to the point where one of them stabbed the other in the throat.

Niall De Baroid, aged 63, of 3, Murphy’s Gardens, Turner’s Cross, Cork, pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to a count of assault causing harm to Garry Doocey on April 10, 2014 and producing a knife on the occasion.

Detective Garda Noel Maxwell testified that shortly after noon that day a man had an epileptic fit outside Tony’s Bistro on North Main Street. The defendant and the injured party went to his assistance . The ambulance arrived and brought the man away for medical attention.
